Chameleons - Saviours Are A Dangerous Thing

[Intro]
Here he comes now

[Verse 1]
Here he comes gliding down the street
Thousand dollar trainers on his feet
All the monkeys part to let him pass
Thinks he's Jesus riding on an ass

[Pre-Chorus]
Super Nero and his ego smile
As they worship the king, dancing the tango
With opinions, roasted minions
Bow as they're kissing the ring

[Chorus]
Saviours are a dangerous thing
Saviours are a dangerous thing

[Verse 2]
Here he comes to sweep you off your feet
With his little orange parakeet
Bringing as he offers something sweet
Suck-suck-suck-suck-sucking on the teat

[Pre-Chorus]
Young Narcissus and his sisters swoon
In the madness they bring, dancing the fandango
Celebration population sings
Dancing the king

[Chorus]

[Bridge]
Far from you, I feel so very far from you
From everything you say and do, I feel so very far from you

[Pre-Chorus]
Super Nero and his ego smile
As they worship the king

[Chorus]

[Outro]
I feel so very far from you
From everything you say and do
I feel so very far from you
From everything you think is true
Here he comes now, saviours are a dangerous thing

Resumo do Conceito

“I Believe in You” do Talk Talk funciona como uma oração laica, celebrando a vida e a esperança.

The Chameleons - Nathan's Phase

Em estúdio

Ao vivo

Of all the faces that you wear
Sometimes joy, sometimes despair
The mask has gone, no mystery
Replaced by vague transparency

Oh, it's just a phase you're going through
It's you
It's just a phase you're going through

The streets of London paved with lead
Just as my lungs are paved with Leb
Brush the cobwebs from my head
Feels like I'm stapled to this bed

Oh, it's just a phase you're going through
It's you
It's just a phase you're going through

The streets of London paved with lead
Just as my lungs are paved with Leb
Brush the cobwebs from my head
Feels like I'm stapled to this bed

Oh, it's just a phase you're going through
It's you
It's just a phase you're going through
Out of tune
Yeah, with this phase you're going through

The Chameleons - Don't Fall

I can't remember what was said
I can't remember what was done
The atmosphere is pushing me
The atmosphere is pushing me

I see a reflection in the window pane
And I don't like what I see
The atmosphere is pushing me
The atmosphere is pushing me

Don't fall
Get a grip on yourself
Don't fall
Get a grip on yourself

People staring, staring at me
Running round in circles
Blind to what they see
The atmosphere is pushing me
The atmosphere is pushing me

Don't fall
Get a grip on yourself
Don't fall
Get a grip on yourself

I'm checking out of this place
It's much too cold for me
The atmosphere is pushing me
The atmosphere is pushing me

Don't fall
Get a grip on yourself
Don't fall
Get a grip on yourself

Don't fall
Don't fall
Don't fall

No filme, a personagem de Lawford declama, de forma dramática, a frase "In his autumn, before the winter comes, man's last mad surge of youth" (No seu outono, antes que o inverno chegue, surge o último e louco ímpeto de juventude do homem), ao que a mãe responde, num tom de total incompreensão e desdém, "What on earth are you talking about?"

Música do BioTerra: The Chameleons - A Person Isn't Safe Anywhere These Days

The end of this song, the final minute is pure genius. Rock music does not get any better than this.Sad, that so many people preferred the U2 posers instead of The Chameleons.

As she parts her greying hair
Voices on the stair
When she turns there's someone there

Like a nightmare from the past
To the sound of splintered glass
Dance the monsters in the masks

Men of steel
Just stood laughing in the rain

Have you killed her
Someone said
As they dragged her from her bed
Kicking in her head

What kind of times are these
No one hears, no one sees
As they drive her to her knees

Men of steel
Just stood laughing in the rain

What kind of times are these
As they drive you to your knees
They just stood laughing in the rain
The rain

How can you laugh this one away
Will you ever laugh this one away

Best band nobody knows about.

Música do BioTerra: The Chameleons - Second Skin

Original version
Live - Camden Palace, 1985
Live - Manchester, 2019
Acoustic version

One cold damp evening
The world stood still
I watched as I held my breath
A silhouette I thought I knew

Came through, someone spoke to me
Whispered in my ear
This fantasy's for you
Fantasy's are in this year

My whole life flashed, before my eyes
I thought, what they say is true
I've shed my skin, and my disguise
And cold on the naked eye

Emerged from my cocoon
And a half-remembered tune played softly in my head
He said

He turns smiling
And says

I realize a miracle, is due
I dedicate this melody, to you

But is this the stuff dreams are made of?
If this is the stuff dreams are made of
No wonder I feel like I'm floating on air

No wonder I feel like I'm floating on air
Everywhere

Oh, it feels like I'm everywhere
Like when you fail to make the connection, you know vital it is
Oh when something slips through your fingers you know precious it is
Oh and you reach the point when you know
It's only your second skin
It's only your second skin
(Something's banging on my door) like when you fail to make the connection, you know vital it is
(Someone's banging on my door) oh when something slips through your fingers you know precious it is
(Something's banging on my door) or reach the point when you know it's only your second skin
(Someone's banging on my door, something's banging on my door)

Música do BioTerra: Chameleons Vox - Dali's Picture (Version 2017)

It's time to act like a man
It isn't part of my plan
To die in some foreign land
Just like the razor in Dali's picture
Well there won't be any blood on my hands

What do they want me to be?
Cowards or killers are we
What do I really believe?
Hobson's choice it seems I'm caught
Between the devil and the deep blue sea

And his only legacy
Was a death without a face
Whose hands were stained with blood
Whose eyes were filled with dirt

Ran to meet his fate
In someone else's war
Little consolation
For my little orphan boy
That's war, boy

Go out and give it your best
Go out and slaughter the pest
Go out and kill with the rest
If you excel yourself they'll give you
A tin star you can pin to your chest

And his only legacy
Was a death without a face
Whose hands were stained with blood
Whose eyes were filled with dirt

You have a numbing aversion to dying
You have a numbing aversion to dying
Cowards or killers are we
Cowards or killers are we
Just like the razor in Dali's picture
Check out the razor in Dali's picture

Música do BioTerra: The Chameleons - Soul in Isolation

Soul in isolation
I can hear you breathing down the hall
Soul in isolation
I can hear you whisper through the walls
And if I had a mind to now
I could call to you
Or I could simply shut you out
No more, would you cry, cry, cry

I give you my time to kill
But you'll never never break my will
Or I could sink a sleeping pill
And in the morning could be sleeping still
But most of you are much to ill
Oh, way beyond a surgeons skill
In bondage to a dollar bill
What more can you buy, buy, buy

Oh when you think of it, when you think of it
We're all souls in isolation
Alive in here, I'm alive in here
I'm alive in here
Oh, when you think of it, when you think of it
Try here
A word in your ear
A word in your ear
Back to the trees

Big bad giant standing tall
Crushing all the creatures great and small
I'd like to see this giant fall
When will it come?
When will it come?
Words that rattle round my head
Struck by lightning, someone said
A diamond bullet in the head
Right in the brain
Are they right in the brain?

Will I see the jailers face?
Did my mother lead me to this place?
Will I live to see his face?
Will another come to take my place?
In total isolation
Surrounded by fears
Too many clowns, too many tears
Isolation
Surrounded by crowds
In another world, head in the clouds
I'm alive in here, I scream
But you still can't hear
I'm alive in here
I'm alive, turn on the light

Turn on the light

Oh, when you think of it, when you think of it
We're all souls in isolation
Alive in here, I'm alive in here
I'm alive in here
Oh, when you think of it
When you think of it
We're all souls in isolation
Alive in here
I'm alive in here
I'm alive in here
Oh, when you think of it
When you think of it
We're all souls in isolation

We're always searching for something
Searching
Dear, dear, dead days I'm lonely

Música do BioTerra: The Chameleons - On The Beach

Notes by Mark - This song came very quickly to a guitar riff that Dave started playing one afternoon at rehearsal. It's actually a true story of what happened one night at Urquhart Castle, Loch Ness. It took me a very long time to come to terms with what I thought I saw that night, I mean someone who sees angelic visions appear in the sky must be going mad right? Actually many years later, as I stood before a priest in the very same spot waiting for my bride to arrive so the wedding could begin, she walked across the lawn and I thought "That's It! That's what I saw!"

Letra
The Autumn leaves were falling
Hearing nature talking
I thought I heard her calling
Hush now don't you cry
Figure in the sky

Can't stop myself from shaking
My mind at last is waking
Eight minds embracing
Figures in the sky

Hadn't time to analyse
What I saw before my eyes
But nothing would surprise me
Here on our beach
Far away from you all

I thought I heard her calling
Unsure of what we're facing
The precious time we're wasting
I'll always be embracing
Figures in the sky

Encontros Improváveis- Cecília Meireles e The Chameleons - "Lufthansa"

A little rain's going to keep on falling on me
I'm going to keep on calling to you

I'm in a spin
I won't let this darkness in
Turning around
Grinning as I leave the ground
Wanting it all
I'm tearing right through that wall
Once and for all
I'm tearing right through that wall
Taking it out

A little rain's going to keep on falling on me
I'm going to keep on calling to you
A little rain's going to keep on falling on me
I'm going to keep on calling to you
I'm going to keep on calling to you
I'll keep on calling to you

I'm in a spin
Spinning at the speed of sound
I'm in a spin
Hanging with the lost and found
I'm on fire
Rushing all the way to you
I'm on fire
Rushing all the way to you
Checking it out

A little rain's going to keep on falling on me
I'm going to keep on calling to you
A little rain's going to keep on falling on me
I'm going to keep on calling to you

I'm going to keep on calling to you
(A little rain's going to keep on falling)

Música do Bioterra: The Chameleons- The Perfume Garden (oficial e John Peel sessions)

This is one of those songs I HAVE to listen to on a loop, in a dark room at night with the headphones on so I can lose myself for hours.

You can shake your hips
You can seal your lips
I can't make that trip
And all life's fears
Can invade my ears
I can handle it
I can laugh with a friend
And remember the faces
We wore at school
Making the madness
And solitary sadness
A friendly fool
I thought of stories
They told us long ago
Of how the world was a perfume garden
I haven't yet learned to tame the creature there
And that at least I think is something good
All across the town
And across the street
You could feel the heat
Let me tell you friend
They could hardly wait
To mark your sheet
It was maximum joy
For the men they employed
To hold you down
Well I hope now you know
That this isn't the bliss
That you thought you found
Endless emptiness
An endless ringing bell
I couldn't show you
But I hope to one day
Pretty promises to teach the tender child
To welcome madness every Monday
Beck and call
It didn't seem to matter at all
Beck and call
You told us how to conquer it all
Beck and call
These children have nothing at all
Listening hard
For the voice of the child
I thought I heard
An alarm bell ringing
Pulled from my sleep
By invisible hands
The distant sound of a lady singing

The Chameleons - "Home Is Where The Heart Is" (Peel Sessions)

Home Is Where The Heart Is

So here we are waking
Savages shaking
The road that we're taking
We've walked before

And if these times
Should seal our fate
You won't see me
At Heavens gate

Danger is lurking
Evil is working
Yet here we are hiding
Behind our doors

Come out come out
It's time to grow
Enjoy the ride
One more time before you go

According to Hoyle
All cards on the table
What else can you do
When life is unstable

The night's growing colder
The enemy bolder
But as you grow older
You cease to care

But if we run
Or try to hide
And turn our faces
We'll have no hopes
To keep alive

According to Hoyle
All cards on the table
Reactions cool
The world is unstable
According to Hoyle
All cards on the table
What can you do
When life is unstable

So here we are waking
Savages shaking
Here we are hiding
Danger is lurking

Encontros improváveis : The Chameleons e Albert Einstein - A Necessidade do Desarmamento

A Necessidade do Desarmamento

They'll be happy in the end
Mr Pharmacist can you help
Send me on a 'delic kick
Mr Pharmacist
Dear Pharmacist use your mind
You better stock me up for the wintertime
Mr Pharmacist
Hey Mr Pharmacist
Words cannot express
Feeling I suggest
Oh Mr Pharmacist
I can plead
Gimme some of that powder I need
Mr Pharmacist
Dear Pharmacist
I'll be back
With a handful of empty sack
Mr Pharmacist

As Lágrimas

Letra

It's just coincidence
Well, you can talk that way
But I have to say I don't believe in it
It was a chill of chance,
I decided to dance the days away
And I wasn't worried at all
Sneaking through the back door
No, I wasn't worried at all
Dreams are what you live for

Waiting for the light to turn green
Carry me home
To the kindest eyes that I've ever seen
Carry me home
Well, can you tell me how will it be now?
How will it be?
Can you tell me, how will it be now?
How will it be?

Well we were younger then,
And the days were long and slow
But were we wiser then?
I couldn't say, I wouldn't know
But I wasn't worried at all
I had someone to run to
And I wasn't worried at all
I knew which way the wind blew

Counting out the chaos and gloom
Carry me home
And I watched the ceiling spin round the room
Carry me home
Well, can you tell me, how will it be now?
How will it be?
Can you tell me, how will it be now?
How will it be?

In the real world, how will it be?
In a cold world, how will it be?
In a lonely world, how will it be?
Will the ghosts just stop following me?

No, now drawn into the sun

He was the only one

In the real world, how will it be?
In a cold, cold world, how will it be?
Beck and call, beg and crawl, how will it be?
Will the ghosts just stop following me?
No, now drawn into the sun
He was the only one

And so I'll remember you,
I'll remember the days and the thousands of ways you pulled me through,
And dream of all the things you've seen,
Of all the faces and all of the places you have been,
Now you have no phone and you have no name and you have no number,
And it comes to an end in the blink of an eye and it makes me wonder...
