Depois da deslumbrante “The Goal”, “Happens To The Heart” é a nova e lindíssima canção extraída de “Thanks For The Dance”. O álbum póstumo de Leonard Cohen, compilado e produzido pelo seu filho, chega dia 22 de Novembro.

Quando Leonard Cohen morreu em 2016, deixou-nos a imensa riqueza de uma vasta e luxuosa discografia. Essa riqueza irá ser aumentada. Dia 22 de Novembro é a data de chegada de um novo álbum póstumo, “Thanks For The Dance”. Depois da curta, mas deslumbrante canção “The Goal”, o primeiro single deste trabalho, estreou hoje a lindíssima “Happens To The Heart”.

A canção está acompanhada de vídeo realizado por Daniel Askill. Nele, seguimos uma figura, que pretende evocar o próprio Cohen, através de um bosque. No decorrer do vídeo descobrimos um jovem que se despe das roupas de Cohen e, ao encontrar um monge, assume roupas monásticas orientais, dirigindo-se então a um precipício onde se senta em meditação.

“Happens to the Heart é uma reflexão final de Leonard Cohen sobre a própria vida, unindo espiritualidade, memória, amor e mortalidade. A canção funciona como um testamento íntimo em que Cohen revisita diferentes versões de si mesmo — o monge zen, o poeta, o amante, o homem falho — e tenta compreender o que realmente acontece ao coração depois de tudo aquilo que nos forma e nos destrói. Ele fala da busca sincera pela iluminação e da constatação inevitável das próprias imperfeições, reconhecendo que, apesar de ter trilhado caminhos espirituais rigorosos, nunca conseguiu escapar totalmente do ego e da vaidade. A pergunta repetida, “What happens to the heart?”, sintetiza a dúvida essencial do fim da vida: o que resta de nós quando as paixões, as ambições e as ilusões se esgotam? Escrito quando Cohen já estava muito doente, o poema-musical transmite um olhar terno e lúcido sobre as memórias, as falhas e o legado pessoal, revelando um homem que busca não respostas definitivas, mas aceitação.

“Thanks For The Dance” foi compilado e produzido por Adam Cohen, filho do cantor. O álbum conta com as participações de Feist, Beck, Damien Rice, Richard Reed Parry, Bryce Dessner (dos National) e Daniel Lanois, entre outros.
